Doctors Without Borders (MSF) Southern Africa is hosting a webinar series to unpack COVID-19 medical tools & local production in Africa, looking at 1) intellectual property and therapeutics 2 ) vaccines 3) diagnostics, over the coming weeks.
Please join us for the second discussion on Friday 5th of November 2021at 11 AM (South African Time) in our 3-part series as we discuss COVID vaccine manufacturing in Africa. As well as a presentation by Sothema, who are manufacturing the Sinopharm jab in Morocco, we will hear about Rwanda and Senegal's plans to scale up production, the mRNA hub in South Africa, why Moderna & Pfizer should share mRNA technology with Africa's injectable medicines manufacturers, the liimitations of fill and finsh deals and more!
Confirmed panellists include Dr Nicaise Ndembi (Chief Science Advisor, Africa CDC), Petro Terreblanche (Director, Afrigen - involved in the mRNA hub in South Africa), and Dr Alain Alsalhani (Pharmacist, MSF Access Campaign).
Mehdi Zaghlou will also be joining us at the beginning of the webinar to do a short presentation on Sothema.
This series aims to connect media throughout the continet with Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), academics, regional institutions and African governments to provide recommendations and the urgent action needed to boost local manufacturing of Covid medical tools.
