IRAQ - Photos Available - health needs of thousands of displaced

Internationally acclaimed photographer, Ton Koene travelled to Iraq’s Sulaymaniyah and Diyala governorates to chronicle the daily lives of thousands of internally displaced people who lost loved ones, livelihoods and belongings amid fierce fighting in the country. Well over 3.3 million people are internally displaced after two years of conflict. More people are increasingly being forced to flee their homes as a result of fighting that has ravaged the country’s central provinces.

Today we share a selection of high res photos for your use.

Through his lens Koene caputres the impact of the massive destruction in these parts of Iraq, the suffering of IDPs and the impact of the conflict on their physical and mental health is vividly revealed.

Koene’s work in Iraq also offers a rare peek into the work of Doctors Without Borders (MSF) in conflict zones and on the frontlines.
